The 9th Microbial Ecology & Water Engineering Specialist Conference

Historically Delft has been a nucleus for applied microbiology, starting with the first observations of microorganisms by Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, Beijerinck introducing enrichment culturing, Soehngen developing the basis for anaerobic microbiology, and Kluyver introducing the unity in biochemistry. We believe the traditional atmosphere of interaction between microbiology and engineering in Delft gives the perfect environment for the next MEWE meeting.

We aim to drive bidirectional exchange between delegates on the development of principles and integrative concepts across the continuum formed by microbial ecology and water practice. The conference will be organized in close interaction with leading partner scientific institutions and engineering offices of the Netherlands. Links will be drawn with national and international societies of the microbiology and water sectors. We look forward to welcoming you next October 2021 in Delft for the 9th IWA MEWE Specialist Conference.
